Winter Storm Warning in Effect with Several Inches of Snow Expected

For the second time in three days, the Tri-State area is under a Winter Storm Warning. Snow is expected to begin falling throughout the area this morning. It’s possible that some freezing rain could be mixed in at times. But KCRG meteorologist Kaj O’Mara says that is more likely to our south. Snow will continue all the way through tomorrow morning. KCRG is calling for 3-6 inches of snowfall through our area, though the National Weather Service is predicting up to seven inches of accumulation for the city of Dubuque. Higher amounts are possible in the northern portion of our listening area. The heaviest snow will fall this afternoon and into tonight. The Winter Storm Warning will be in effect until 9:00 tomorrow morning.  There is another chance for snow in our forecast later this week, though the bigger threat at the end of the week will be dangerously cold conditions. Overnight lows both Thursday and Friday nights are expected to drop into the teens below zero.
