Winter Storm to Bring 5-8 Inches of Snow Tonight, Tomorrow
After a light snowfall on Sunday, another round of heavier accumulations is expected in the Tri-States beginning today. A Winter Storm Warning will go into effect for our entire listening area at 3:00 this afternoon for what the National Weather Service is calling a “significant winter storm.” Snow is expected to begin falling in the mid to late afternoon and continue through the night. Between five and eight inches of snow are forecast. Areas on the southern edge of our listening area could see sleet and freezing rain at the beginning of the storm. After the snow tapers off tomorrow, winds will pick up, gusting to around 40 miles per hour. That is expected to cause some blowing and drifting of the snow that’s already fallen by that point.
