Wife of Hardee’s Robber Sentenced
A Dubuque woman who helped her husband plan to rob the fast food restaurant where she worked has been sentenced to a short stay in jail, with the threat of additional time if she doesn’t stay out of trouble. 38-year-old Mary Brown was sentenced this week for her role in the robbery at the Hardee’s on Asbury Road last October. Back in February, Brown agreed to plead guilty to charges of 1st Degree Theft and Child Endangerment in exchange for avoiding significant jail time and having robbery charge dropped. Brown’s suspended sentence will require her to spend 90 days in jail, a year in a residential correctional facility, and then be on probation for five years. If she gets into any additional legal trouble in that time, she could be sent to prison for up to ten years. Prosecutors say Brown worked with her husband to plan an early-morning robbery at the restaurant while she was working there last fall. Her husband, William, was sentenced to between five and ten years in prison last month after pleading guilty to 2nd Degree Robbery and Child Endangerment charges.
