The University of Wisconsin Platteville and the rest of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools will not have sports this fall. Yesterday the conference announced seasons and championships in the sports of football, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country are to be canceled for the school year. Women’s tennis & women’s golf will be moved to the spring. Determinations with regards to the winter sports season, including the start date will be decided at a later date.
The CCIW and Midwest Conferences were among several leagues yesterday to announce they were pulling the plug on their fall sports seasons.
The Missouri Valley Conference, which includes the University of Northern Iowa and Drake University announced delaying the start of non-football fall sports competition until September 18. No changes were made to the schedules of the league’s winter and spring sports. The league will conduct conference-only competition in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball. Football is still being evaluated.
