Iowa HS Spring Sports Cancelled-Wisconsin Hopes Fading
Iowa High School stadiums hosting track and field events, soccer fields, and tennis courts will remain empty this spring. This morning Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Iowa schools will be closed for the rest of the academic year which wipes out all school related activities including spring sports. The announcement postpones a decision on summer baseball and softball until June First.
The hopes of beginning the Wisconsin High School spring sports schedule are quickly fading after news yesterday from the Governor’s office as well.
Governor Tony Evers extended the state’s Stay at Home order until May 26 and ordered all public and private K-12 schools to remain closed and interscholastic athletics are prohibited for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year..
The W-I-A-A Board of Control will discuss the options for the for the spring sports seasons and for summertime regulations at its scheduled meeting on Tuesday.
