Western Dubuque and Black Hawk Playing for State Football Titles Today

The Western Dubuque Bobcat football team hopes to continue their playoff magic for one more game as they meet the Cedar Rapids Xavier Saints for the Iowa Class 3-A state championship tonight at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls at 7 o’clock.  W-D is 10-2 following playoff wins over Solon, North Scott, and Sergeant Bluff-Luton while Xavier is undefeated at 12-0 after playoff victories over Pella, Decorah, and Council Bluffs Lewis Central. One of the Saints wins came during a 35-0 victory at home over the Bobcats back on October 5th during a game that was delayed several hours by weather.

At the Wisconsin State Finals in Madison at Camp Randall, Six River Conference member Black Hawk, last year’s Division 7 runner-up will be playing in the State game for the fourth time. The Warriors square off with Edgar this morning at 10 o’clock for the Division 7 crown. Both teams are undefeated.
