Western BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burgers

Western BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burgers 

2 lbs. Cremer’s Lean Ground beef

8 buns

8 slices Cheddar Cheese

8 slices cottage bacon

2 tablespoons water, ice cold (helps the meat stay moist)

1 ¼ teaspoons Seasoned Salt

1 teaspoon Garlic powder

Pepper to taste

1 ½ tablespoons Soy Sauce

Your favorite bottle of BBQ Sauce

1 bag frozen Onion Rings

Vegetable Oil 

Bake onion rings according to package directions.  Set aside. 

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, Seasoned salt, garlic powder, pepper, Soy sauce and water.  Divide the meat into 8 patties.  Press your index finger into the middle of each patty, making a hole (this helps the burgers keep their shape).  Place them on a platter and set aside.  

Start the grill and prepare for direct and indirect cooking (heat to one side) over a medium-hot fire (375-400 degrees).  

Lightly oil both sides of each burger.  Grill over direct heat for 3 minutes.  Flip burgers and cook another 3 minutes.  Move the burgers to the cooler side of the grill and top each with a slice of cheese.  Toast buns over direct heat.  Grill cottage bacon slices 2-3 minutes over indirect heat.  Remove to a paper towel to drain. 

Remove remaining g food from grill.  Top each burger with a slice of cottage bacon, 1 or 2 onion rings, a tablespoon or 2 of BBQ sauce and serve.
