Wednesday Was Dubuque’s Coldest Day Ever
The official numbers are in, and Wednesday was the coldest day ever recorded in Dubuque. The high temperature only reached -16 degrees, which broke the all-time record for the coldest high temperature in the city’s history. The previous record was -15 degrees, set in January of 1994. In addition to that all-time record, new daily records for coldest low and high temperatures were also set. The Dubuque Regional Airport also recorded a wind chill of -55 degrees, which was only 3 degrees off of the all-time record for that reading. This morning’s cold just missed out on matching the all-time record for lowest low temperature. The record of -32 degrees was set in 1887. The forecast had originally called for Dubuque to get that cold. But the low temperature fell a single degree shy of the record, and -31 degrees. That did shatter the previous daily record of -24 degrees, set in 1996.
