Western Dubuque junior Calvin Harris has received accolades for his accomplishments on the diamond last season. Harris has been named the Gatorade Iowa Baseball Player of the Year for the 2018-19 school year.
The right-handed catcher, infielder and pitcher led the Bobcats to the 4-A state semi-finals last season posting an 8-1 record with a 0.53 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched and also batted .413 with eight home runs with 52 RBI’s. The honor makes Harris a candidate for the National Player of the Year. He is the first Iowa underclassman to win the honor.
