W-D Advances to State Title in Football and Volleyball and Beckman Heads to Volleyball Title Match

What a day to be a Bobcat!  Western Dubuque has advanced to a state championship game in football and in volleyball.

Last night at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, the Bobcat football team totally dominated Council Bluffs Lewis Central 48-14 to advance to the 3-A state championship game for a second straight year. The Bobcats forced 5 Titan turnovers in the win. Ben Bryant put on a show, scoring a pair of touchdowns on offense, forced a fumble and intercepted two passes on defense. W-D will meet Solon in a battle of unbeaten for the top prize in Class 3-A this Thursday.


Earlier in the day in Cedar Rapids, the Bobcat volleyball team defeated Marion 3-1(25-14, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22) in the 4-A semi-finals and will play top seed (36-3) Sergeant Bluff Luton this afternoon at 12:15 for the 4-A crown.

Also at the state volleyball tournament, Dyersville Beckman has earned a spot in the state title later today. The Blazers shutout Clarion Goldfield 3-0 on scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 and will play top seed (40-5) Western Christian for the state title at 4:45.
