UPDATE: Early Morning Fight Leads to Stabbing on North End
One person was hospitalized following a stabbing on Dubuque’s North End early this morning. Police were called to a home at the intersection of Francis and 23rd Streets a few minutes after 12:30 AM. That’s where they found 19-year-old Dustin McGonigle suffering from a stomach wound. He was taken to Finley Hospital for treatment. McGonigle told police that he’d been in a fight with another man outside the Francis Street home. During the fight, the other man stabbed McGonigle in the stomach and ran from the area while McGonigle retreated inside the home. Police believe those who live in the house know the suspect and don’t consider the incident a random act. They’re asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact the local CrimeStoppers tipline. McGonigle was later released from the hospital and arrested on a warrant for Failing to Appear for a court date.
