UNI Holds Off Drake

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI Panthers hosted the Bulldogs of Drake University in the McLeod Center on Sunday afternoon. The in-state rivalry ended in dramatic fashion with the Panthers coming out on top 57-54. UNI opened the game hot and maintained the lead throughout the first half. The Panthers pushed their lead to eleven in the second half before the Bulldogs slowly chipped away to come within one. Up one with 5:40 remaining in the game, both teams stalled with neither team scoring until the Panthers were fouled with five seconds remaining in the game. Former Western Dubuque prep Spencer Haldeman made both his free throws to give the Panthers a three-point lead. Drake missed on a final shot giving the Panthers the win.   Wyatt Lohaus had a team-high 14 points, Former Senior prep Luke McDonnell finished with 10 and 6 rebounds. Haldeman had 7 points and 3 rebounds.
