Travel Not Advised Due to Dangerously Cold Temperatures, Wind Chills
We’re going to say this as plainly as possible: it is simply too dangerous to leave your home unless you absolutely have to. Travel is not advised in Dubuque County at this hour due to the extreme cold. County and state plows were pulled off of the roads late last night, and likely won’t be going back out until mid-morning today. Winds overnight created blowing snow in many areas. At these temperatures, typical road treatments are not effective, and in some cases will do more harm than good.
If you need a place to warm up for a while, a couple of Dubuque locations are serving as warming centers for the next few days. They include the Dubuque Rescue Mission, the Carnegie-Stout Public Library, and the Multicultural Family Center.
