Teen Pleas Not Guilty To Attempted Murder

A Dubuque teenager accused of attempted murder has pleaded not guilty. 18 year old Earnest Hunt Jr. was arrested on drug charges on Christmas day. On Christmas eve police responded to a report of gunfire in the 500 block of Almond Street. Authorities allege that Hunt shot at the residence. There were people inside, but no one was injured. While investigating the shooting several days later, police arrested Hunt and charged him with attempted murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, two counts of going armed with intent and two counts of carrying weapons.  If convicted on all charges Hunt could be sentenced to nearly 50 years behind bars. In a separate incident a few days before Christmas, Hunt was arrested after he almost struck an officer with his vehicle while trying to flee following an attempted traffic stop by police. He was also in possession of cocaine at the time. Hunt has pleaded not guilty to those charges as well.
