Teen Charged With Attempted Murder

A Dubuque teenager is charged with trying to kill another teen with a hand gun last month. A release from the police department says 17 year old Jamar Little is charged in adult court with attempted murder. The incident happened back on May 13th in the alley between the 1800 blocks of White and Jackson Streets. Court records say just prior to the shooting, a car drove through the area and parked in the 1800-hundred block of White Street. Little and another juvenile got out of the car and began walking in the alley. The two approached another juvenile who was standing behind 1815 Jackson. They then charged the 15 year old and several shots were fired. The victim was not hit as he fled the area. Police were able to locate the car that Little and the other juvenile fled in parked in front of a residence in the 2-thousand block of University Avenue. The suspects eventually came out and were detained. Police obtained a search warrant and found a .22 LR pistol. Shell casings located at the scene of the shooting were also .22 caliber. Little was arrested in Davenport Wednesday. Court records don’t indicate if the other juvenile or the driver of the car were charged. Attempted murder is a Class B felony, and carries a prison sentence of up to 25 years.
