Sups Vote To Allow ATV’s/UTV’s On Roads

The Dubuque County Supervisors have voted to allow all-terrain and utility vehicles on county roads. The vote Tuesday night was 2-to-1, with supervisors Dave Baker and Jay Wickham voting in favor, while supervisor Ann McDonough voted against the ordinance. However the vote to create the ordinance does include some stipulations. ┬áThe ordinance would expire after a certain amount of time. The board’s decision has excited supports like Rom McCarthy who says this will boost the local economy. As expected the board’s decision upset opponents like Katherine Caitlin..
Supervisor Dave Baker believes the ordinance will be good for the county in the long run. Along with giving the ordinance an expiration date, both Baker and Wickham discussed exploring insurance and registration requirements, as well as excluding certain county roads from use.
