Sups To Meet With Mayors To Discuss Mask Mandate

The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors will have a work session next week to discuss a proposed county-wide mask mandate with Mayors throughout the county as well as health officials. Last week the Board of Health approved a resolution that calls for a mask mandate. The final decision rests with the supervisors. Chair Dave Baker says they’ll more than likely take action on the Board of Health’s recommendation one way or the other. Baker says one major sticking point is that businesses in the county don’t want to play the role of enforcing a mask mandate. He says he’s tired of the state trampling on the counties rights to make decisions that are in the best interest of their citizenry. Tuesday’s meeting will be conducted via zoom, but the public is welcome to attend in-person as long as they adhere to the safety protocols in place at the courthouse. Tuesday’s meeting will be held on the 4th floor of the courthouse beginning at 10 am.
