Storm Drain Mural Project Winning Concepts

The City of Dubuque has announced the concepts selected for the 2019 Storm Drain Art Mural Project. The artists will paint the murals between September 9 – 30. “Catfish Blues” by Emily Cotton Cram will be painted on White St. near Fulton Elementary School, “A Littered Habitat” by Bryce Cox will be painted on Lincoln Ave. near Audubon Elementary School, and “Treasures of Iowa” by Leah Steed will be painted at the corner of 15th St. and Iowa St. near Jackson Park. A total of 44 designs from 25 different artists were submitted. Concepts were scored on their educational value, creativity, and aesthetic value. The goal of the murals is to raise awareness of storm drains as a connection to our local waterways.
