Stay-At-Home Valentine Gala

Have you ever been invited to a fundraising event, but you don’t show up and the event still raises money? That’s exactly what the latest fundraiser by the Dubuque Regional Humane Society aims to do. The DRHS is hosting its’ first ever “no-show fundraiser event called a Stay-at-Home Valentine’s Gala today. Humane society executive director Tonya Millard says invitations to the non-event have been sent out to community members asking them to make a donation to the DRHS for the privilege of not attending the event. She says it’s an attempt to include those donors who may not be interested in buying an expensive ticket to attend a gala, but would still like to make a donation in a fun and unique way. Millard says people can make a donation of what they think they may have spent had this been an actual event by simply visiting their website, https://www.dbqhumane.org/. That mission is to support the nearly 3,000 lost, abandoned, surrendered or neglected animals the society cares for every year.
