State Patrol Clocks Driver Going 96 MPH in Ice Storm
A driver passing through the Tri-States during Thursday’s ice storm didn’t just ignore law enforcement warnings to stay off of the roads…they ignored the speed limit by a long shot too. Iowa State Patrol trooper Jon Stickney posted to Twitter Thursday afternoon that he had pulled a driver over for going 96 miles per hour on US Highway 20 near Manchester. That’s more than 30 miles over the posted speed limit. Stickney says the highway was completely covered with snow and ice at the time, making the driver’s actions especially dangerous. The name of the driver was not included in the post, though Stickney did include one additional piece of information…the fine the driver will face, which is nearly $250.
