Stabbing Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

A suspect is in custody following a stabbing in Dubuque last night. Police were called to an apartment in the 500 block of Loras Boulevard shortly after 6:30 PM. That’s where officers found a man with a stab wound under his armpit. The victim was taken to Finley Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a punctured lung. While talking with officers, the man said he had gone to 24-year-old Christopher Puccio’s apartment in the 400 block of Angella Street. The two argued, and then fought. The victim says Puccio stabbed him under his left arm. The man was able to run to his car and drive home, which is where police found him. Officers later located Puccio a couple blocks from his apartment. Police stopped him because he had two active warrants for his arrest. As officers were questioning Puccio, they noticed blood on his shorts and scratches on his neck and arm. After his arrest, officers searched Puccio’s apartment, where they found blood stains and the knife that’s believed to have been used in the stabbing. Puccio’s been charged with Attempted Murder. He’s also facing a new charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, after police reportedly found marijuana on him while he was being arrested.
