HUMBLE, Texas (AP) – Peter Malnati was the clubhouse leader when the second round of the PGA’s Houston Open was suspended by darkness. The expectant father started strong and shot 7-under 65 for a 10 under total. The 32-year-old Malnati has been playing professionally since 2009 and has one career PGA Tour title. WASHINGTON (AP) – The U.S. men’s soccer team enjoyed a laugher in its first CONCACAF Nations League match. Weston McKennie scored 32 seconds into the game and had the fastest hat trick from the kickoff in U.S. history as the Americans hammered Cuba, 7-0 in Washington. Other Sports Updates

UNDATED (AP) – Olympic gold medalist Conor Dwyer has announced his retirement shortly after receiving a 20-month doping ban for having testosterone pellets inserted into his hip. The 30-year-old Dwyer helped the US win relay gold medals in 2012 and 2016 and an individual bronze in 2016. He tested positive three times between Nov. 15 and Dec. 20 last year. His ban was made effective on Dec. 21, meaning he wouldn’t have been eligible for next year’s Olympics.
