AP source: NFL to meet with Antonio Brown accuser Monday
UNDATED (AP) – A person with direct knowledge of the situation says the NFL plans to meet Monday with a woman who says she was raped by New England Patriots receiver Antonio Brown. Brown’s attorney said Brown and Britney Taylor had “a consensual personal relationship” and says Brown plans to countersue.

AP Top 25: Cal, Arizona St move in to give Pac-12 6 ranked
UNDATED (AP) – California and Arizona State have moved into the AP Top 25 college football poll to give the Pac-12 six ranked teams, the most for the conference in almost four years.
A weekend filled with blowouts left the top half of the poll mostly unchanged.
Clemson remains No. 1. Alabama was No. 2, followed by Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Auburn and Florida.

Wisconsin is ranked 13th this week, and Iowa is ranked 18th.

 

Bruins sign D McAvoy to 3-year, $14.7 million deal
BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Charlie McAvoy to a three-year contract that will pay him $14.7 million.
The 21-year-old McAvoy emerged as one of the top defensemen on the Eastern Conference championship team last year. Playing alongside Zdeno Chara on the No. 1 pairing.

Gasol completes historic double, Spain wins World Cup
BEIJING (AP) – Spain has captured its second World Cup championship, defeating Argentina 95-75 on Sunday to give Marc Gasol a rare double-title year.
For Gasol, it was historic. The Toronto Raptors center becomes the second player to win an NBA title and a FIBA world gold medal in the same year, joining Lamar Odom – who did it for the Los Angeles Lakers and USA Basketball in 2010.

Jerry Kelly wins in Michigan for 2nd win of the year
UNDATED (AP) – Jerry Kelly plays bogey-free Sunday at Warwick Hills and closes with a 4-under 68 for a two-shot victory in the Ally Challenge, his second victory this year on the PGA Tour Champions.
He started the final round with a one-shot lead over Charles Schwab Cup leader Scott McCarron and Woody Austin. McCarron fell apart with a 75. Austin remained within one shot until a bogey on the par-4 15th.
Kelly, who won for the fifth time on the PGA Tour Champions, finished at 16-under 200. He remained No. 2 in the Schwab Cup.

Truex wins NASCAR’s opening playoff race
LAS VEGAS (AP) – Martin Truex Jr. has won the opening race of NASCAR’s playoffs to earn an automatic berth into the second round.
Truex’s victory Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was his series-best fifth of the season and again cemented Joe Gibbs Racing as the team to beat in this 10-race playoff series. JGR has 14 wins this season.
Truex chased down Kevin Harvick, who was slowed by traffic, to cut into Harvick’s lead and eventually make the pass for the win on the outside with 20 laps remaining.
The top nine finishers were all playoff contenders as Truex was followed by Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman, William Byron, Kyle Larson and reigning series champion Joey Logano.
