Southwest Wisconsin School Districts Receive Safety Grants

A total of three school districts in southwest Wisconsin will receive state money to make their schools safer. The districts were awarded school safety grants from the Wisconsin Department of Justice this week. The grant money is to be used for safety improvements as well as training for faculty and staff. Of the local districts receiving grants, Shullsburg schools will be getting the most money, at more than $61,000. The Iowa-Grant district will receive nearly $42,000, while the school district serving Cassville has been awarded just shy of $39,000. Some area private schools had previously been announced as grant recipients as well. They include Holy Ghost-Immaculate Conception school in Dickeyville, St. Joseph’s in Hazel Green, and St. Rose of Lima School in Cuba City.
