Western Dubuque, Hempstead, and possibly Senior are having their football schedules altered due to COVID-19.
The Western Dubuque Bobcat football team has found a replacement opponent for this Friday night’s game. W-D was scheduled to play at Charles City however COVID-19 sidelined their opponent. After learning the news Saturday, the Bobcats scrambled to find a new opponent and will now travel to Indianola for their game on Friday night. Indianola had their game with Des Moines Lincoln cancelled with the Des Moines schools all going to on-line learning.
Hempstead also has a new opponent for next Friday night (9/18), the Mustangs were to play at Iowa City West but Iowa City Schools have suspended athletics due to all classes being held on-line. The Mustangs will now travel to the UNI-Dome next Friday to meet Cedar Falls. The Tigers were scheduled to host Iowa City Liberty.
Senior’s game next Friday night is also up in the air right now. Cedar Rapids Kennedy is in quarantine through next Friday after positive virus tests in the program. The Cougars will miss their game against Jefferson tomorrow night and are scheduled to play at Senior next Friday night, but no word on the status of that game yet.
