Social Media Threat Leads To Probation

A Dubuque man who faced up to two years in prison has been placed on probation for making fake threats of school violence on social media last month. 20 year old Curtavion Saunders recently pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree harassment and was given two years of probation. The incident, which Saunders initially denied, happened on January 13th. The threat was directed at Jefferson Middle School on a local Facebook page. It was a warning from one person to another not to go to the school that day or “they would be in ashes, pure death.” All schools were delayed two hours while the threat was investigated, but it later proved to be not credible. Investigators linked Saunders to the threat through his cell phone.
