Among the people making the most of this week’s snow and bitterly cold temperatures are several teams of snow sculptors. They’re working in Dubuque’s Washington Park as part of a competition sponsored by the city and the Dubuque Museum of Art. Competitors began carving up a series of eight-foot-tall blocks of snow earlier this week. They have until noon Saturday to complete their designs. After that, visitors to the park will be able to vote on their favorite sculpture. Dave Maloney is a part of a three-member team. He says their design includes a couple of sea creatures. The winner will qualify for a national competition to be held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
