Snow Days Not Interfering With School Days

Last year at this time, students in the Dubuque Community School District had missed a total of eight days of classes because of snow and ice that made travel difficult. This school year students have been out only one day due to inclement weather conditions.  Superintendent Stan Rheingans says they have been very fortunate so far. The Iowa State Department of Education requires students to get 1,080 hours of classroom study in any given school year. Rheingans says not having to cancel school for a snow day makes it a lot easier on teachers and students. The last day of school was scheduled for Tuesday June 2nd, but because of a missed day due to snow, an extra day, June 3rd, has been added.
