Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

1 4-5 lb. Pork shoulder roast

1 cup barbeque sauce

½ cup apple cider vinegar

½ cup chicken broth

¼ cup light brown sugar

1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 large onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, crushed

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme

Salt & Pepper


Place sliced onions in the bottom of a large slow cooker.  Season the pork roast with salt and pepper and place in the slow cooker.  In a medium bowl, mix together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, garlic, red pepper flakes and thyme.  Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours, or 5-6 hours on high.  Remove roast from the slow cooker, and shred the meat.  Return pork to the slow cooker and stir.  Serve on buns.
