Shots Fired Case

Dubuque Police have filed charges in a Christmas Eve shots fired case. Police report that 18-year old Earnest Jones Hunt Jr of Dubuque has been charged with attempted murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, two counts of going armed with intent, and two counts of carrying weapons. The Police Department responded to 515 Almond Street that evening after receiving a report that the residence received multiple shots. When officers arrived on scene they found three bullets had stuck and penetrated the residence while a forth bullet was found to have impacted the front concrete steps. The residence was occupied by a mother and her two children at the time of the shooting.  City of Dubuque traffic cameras were reviewed and investigators were able to observe  Hunt running from the area at the time of the shooting. Prior to the shooting at the Almond Street address, 19-year old Devin M. Mitchell reported to police that Hunt fired a shot at him, and Mitchell then ran to his girlfriend’s home at 515 Almond. Investigators later received information that Hunt was bragging about the shooting. He is currently in the Dubuque County Jail on December 25 unrelated drug charges.
