Set Free Dubuque-World Day Against Trafficking Event

A local group dedicated to educating people about human trafficking is holding a local event on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons Day, a day the United Nations adopted in 2013 to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking. Suzie Wright, Executive Director of Set Free Dubuque, says they are doing something different this year on July 30th, holding an informational event. Wright says they are now teaming up with a state group to better educate motel and hotel owners and workers how to identify possible human trafficking in their establishments.¬†Wright says Tuesday’s local event will help give people a better idea of what they can do themselves to stop modern day slavery and local resources that can help.¬†The Set Free Dubuque event will run from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Tuesday, the 30th, and will be held at the Convivium Urban Farm at 2811 Jackson St.and light refreshments will be served. If you have questions, you can call 563-451-7914.
