All three city schools advanced to the girls high school state golf meet in regional play yesterday. Senior and Wahlert advanced as Regional Champions in 4-A and 3-A respectively and Hempstead landed a state berth with a runner-up finish behind Senior at the Region 4 meet at Marion. The Rams won by six strokes 375-381. Western Dubuque finished 4th with 395 Senior’s Abby Marting was medalist with 79. Also qualifying as individuals with top six finishes were Breanna Felderman of Senior, Morgan Hawkins of Hempstead and Hannah Fangmann of Western Dubuque.
At the 3-A Regional at Waverly, Wahlert totaled a 335 winning by four strokes over Xavier. Anna Nacos was medalist runner-up with 76, Anna Jenssen and Mary Edwards also finished in the top six to qualify as individuals.
In Class 1-A: Courtney Olson of Clayton Ridge qualified individually finishing medalist runner up at the Region 5 qualifiers at Strawberry Point.
The State Meet will be Tuesday and Wednesday, Class 4-A at Coldwater Links in Ames, and Class 3-A at Otter Creek in Ankeny and 1-A at the American Legion Course in Marshalltown.
