Senior Boys Out of AP Poll, Wahlert Jumps to 4th

The Senior boys basketball team fell out of this week’s Associated Press Iowa boys basketball rankings. The Rams had been rated 10th last week, but split their games since that poll came out, losing to then-#1 Iowa City West and defeating crosstown rival Hempstead. Senior is still receiving enough votes to be 12th if the Class 4A poll was extended.
In Class 3A, Wahlert made the biggest leap of any team in the rankings this week. The Golden Eagles jumped from 9th to 4th in the new poll. Maquoketa holds the #2 position in the rankings ahead of their matchup with #3 West Delaware tonight.
No area teams are ranked in Classes 2A or 1A.
In Illinois, East Dubuque sits at #2 in the first Class 1A poll the AP has released this season. The Warriors received three of the seven first-place votes, which actually is more than #1 Cissna Park. But C-P garnered more overall points to edge E-D for the top spot.
