Second Arrest Made in Possible Dog Fighting

Dubuque Police have arrested a second person accused of abandoning dogs that had fighting injuries. Back in late January, police were called to an apartment near the intersection of 29th and White Streets. The property manager had called after finding two pit bulls in the kitchen. Police say both dogs had scratches and scarring consistent with dog fighting. Police arrested 21-year-old Alexia Ball, who was supposed to be caring for the dogs, and she was charged with Animal Neglect and Abandonment of Dogs. This past Tuesday evening, Ball called police to report she had been assaulted by 31-year-old Eric Tillis. The two had previously lived together in the apartment where the dogs were found. Ball told police she and Tillis had gotten into an argument when he shoved her off of a bed and punched her twice. Tillis has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, as well as Animal Neglect and Abandonment of Dogs charges that mirror the ones filed against Ball earlier this year.
