Salvation Army’s Christmas Campaign Update

The annual bell-ringing season is in full swing in Dubuque. This year’s fundraising goal is $225,000. Captain Matt Phelps says they are behind last year’s pace having raised $38,000 so far, about $8,000 behind last year at this time. Besides physically dropping money in kettles, this year there’s a new way to donate with your phones. All you have to do is scan a code on the kettle with your Apple or Android phone. Also new this year, people can sign up for volunteering online. Go to registertoring.com. Bell ringers are positioned at outlets throughout the community, including Walgreens, Hartig Drug Stores, Hy-Vee, Walmart, Theisen’s, and the Kennedy Mall. The Red Kettle Campaign runs through December 24th.
