Roshek Building-City Council

The Dubuque City Council Monday night voted to schedule a public hearing on December 16th on a proposed Development Agreement between two major companies in Dubuque who are prepared to buy the Roshek Building. Heartland Financial USA and Cottingham & Butler want to buy the building from the non-profit Dubuque Initiatives. Greater Dubuque Development Corp. President and CEO, Rick Dickinson, told the council it’s a great deal for all parties. The two companies want to buy the building due to growth and are committed to investing $2.8 million dollars into the building. Dickinson says it’s been a long process to get to this point. City Manager Mike Van Milligan says the city will identify a location for a 500-space parking structure to accommodate both the influx of employees in the downtown area and Millwork District workers. The money has already been set aside by the council for a large parking project. Heartland Financial USA and Cottingham & Butler would create 32 full-time positions and maintain those through June 2030. The two companies have formed a partnership entity, Roshek Property LLC, for the purchase.
