It appears one of the seats on the Dubuque City Council will be opening up ahead of this fall’s city elections. 4th Ward representative Jake Rios tells KDTH he does not intend to run for a second term on the council. Rios, who owns a Dubuque childcare center, says his professional responsibilities have grown since he came on the council. Rios estimates he is about 80% sure he won’t seek another term. The two other members of the council whose seats will be on the ballot this fall do intend to run for additional terms. 2nd Ward representative Luis Del Toro and at-large council member David Resnick both say they plan to seek re-election. Del Toro says he believe he still has the support of the people of his ward. As for Resnick, he says he enjoys being a member of the council. Del Toro was first elected to the council in 2015. Resnick has been a member of the council since 2008 and would be seeking a fourth term in office.
