Reynolds Won’t Weigh In on Potential Sports Gambling Legalization

Iowa’s governor isn’t revealing where she stands on the legalization of sports gambling in the state. The Supreme Court last summer struck down the federal law banning betting on professional and college sports in most areas. The Court instead ruled that individual states should have the power to decide if they want to allow sports gaming. Iowa is one of several states currently considering legalization. Several proposals for how a sports betting system could be managed have been put forward, but Governor Kim Reynolds says she won’t weigh in on them. Legislative subcommittees began holding hearings on the potential legalization of sports betting this week.
