Haliburton, hot Cyclones drop Purdue Fort Wayne 89-59
Tyrese Haliburton drained a career-high six 3-pointers and scored 22 points and Iowa State used a hot-shooting first half to defeat Purdue Fort Wayne 89-59. Solomon Young added 15 points and reserve Terrence Lewis had a season-high 11 for the Cyclones, who led by as many as 26 in the first half thanks to a barrage of 3-pointers. Jarred Godfrey led the Mastodons with 17 points and Brian Patrick added 13. With Haliburton making 6 of 8 shots, including 5 of 7 behind the arc, Iowa State shot a season best 61% in the first half, with 10 3s.
Northern Iowa continues winning ways with 88-80 win over Marshall
AJ Green scored 24 points and Trae Berhow scored 23 with 11 rebounds and Northern Iowa won its fifth straight beating Marshall 88-80. Former Western Dubuque prep Spencer Haldeman added 13 points for the Panthers who now stand 11-1.
UNI Women Win at ISU
AMES, Iowa – UNI women’s basketball went on a 16-0 fourth-quarter run and the Panthers outscored Iowa State 24-14 in the final frame to earn a 71-63 win over the Cyclones to close out non-conference play.
The win gave the Panthers a sweep of Iowa and Iowa State for the first time since the 1974-75 season and gives UNI consecutive wins over Iowa State for the first time since 1975-76. The Panthers also capture three wins over Power-Five teams for the first time in program history.
