Badgers Tip Gophers

MADISON, Wisc. (AP) — Brad Davison scored 20 points and Brevin Pritzl added 15 as Wisconsin rallied to beat Minnesota 71-69. Daniel Oturu missed a heave from half court off a missed free throw that would’ve won it for Minnesota. D’Mitrik Trice found a cutting Aleem Ford for an open dunk with 30.5 second left to give Wisconsin a 69-68 lead. Oturu went into the post and backed down Nate Reuvers who blocked Oturu’s shot. Pritzl grabbed the rebound, was fouled and then sank both free throws. Oturu led Minnesota with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Marcus Carr added 21 points.


Illini Nip Hoosiers

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Ayo Dosunmu scored 17 points, including a key 3-pointer down the stretch, to lead Illinois over Indiana 67-66. Dosunmu hit the 3-pointer with 1:28 left to put Illinois up 65-60. Rob Phinisee then hit a 3-pointer with 1:14 left to pull Indiana within two.  Following a missed Illinois free throw Andres Feliz ripped the rebound away from Phinisee. Dosunmu was fouled and hit both free throws to make the score 67-63. Phinisee hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Aljami Durham led Indiana with 13 points.


Regional Women Basketball

  • Iowa lost to Rutgers 78-74, three Hawkeyes scored in double figures, including freshman Gabbie Marshall with 22 points. Next is the Big 10 womens tournament. Iowa is the number 3 seed and will play on Thursday against Penn State, Minnesota, or Ohio State.  Wisconsin the 12 and 13 seed Illinois open up the tournament Tuesday afternoon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.


  • UNI women’s basketball team defeated Loyola Chicago 73-70 Sunday afternoon. Karli Rucker led UNI with 24 points. Former Western Dubuque prep Megan Maas contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds for UNI who is now 17-11 on the season.
