Power Outages Reported in Southwestern Wisconsin
UPDATE: Power has now been fully restored in Boscobel.
It’s an especially cold morning in several areas of southwestern Wisconsin. Alliant Energy reports power outages are impacting more than 500 customers. The larger of the outages is in the Boscobel area, where about 350 people are without power. Meanwhile, in the Mineral Point area, another 160 customers are in the dark. As many as 2,900 residents in that area had been impacted by the outage, but many have had their service restored. An Alliant spokesperson tells us the outages are the result of a failure in the transmission line that serves the area. It’s not yet known when power might be fully restored. The Grant County Sheriff’s Department has posted to Facebook that while the outage is in place, residents should avoid opening doors, keep refrigerators closed, and add layers of clothing as needed.
