Power Line Approved-Marklein

State regulators have approved a contentious power line project in southwestern Wisconsin. The Public Service Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to approve construction of the Cardinal-Hickory Creek line between Dubuque and Middleton. Senator Howard Marklein says the project falls in line with what Governor Tony Evers would like to see going forward with the state’s carbon footprint. Marklein says the residents of the 17th Senate District did their best to participate in the process and he appreciate’s all of the time and effort they dedicated to educating him and the PSC. Their advocacy was an important part of the discussion and made an impact. The project still needs approval from the Iowa Utilities Board and federal regulators to cross the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.
