Potosi Man Ordered To Stop Insurance Business

A southwest Wisconsin man has been ordered to stop doing insurance business in Iowa. The Iowa Insurance Division this week ordered Darron Dean of Potosi to cease and desist doing insurance business in the state after it was discovered that he doesn’t have an insurance license and had failed to disclose past criminal convictions on his license application. He was doing insurance business in Iowa without appropriate licensing and authorization. He also improperly withheld a premium from an Iowa customer. Dean must also pay $2,000 in civil penalties and more than $900 in costs of the investigation and prosecution. In August Dean pled guilty to third degree theft and as a result was ordered to pay restitution and a fine.
