Dubuque Police have released additional details about an elderly pedestrian’s death in a traffic crash over the weekend, including the man’s name. A few minutes before noon on Saturday, police were called to the area near the intersection of University Avenue and Finley Street. That’s where 82-year-old Walter Bockenstedt had been struck by a vehicle and was pinned underneath it. Bockenstedt was pronounced dead at the scene. Police now say that the car that hit Bockenstedt was being driven by his wife, Mary. She had been backing the vehicle out of their driveway.
Another pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with a vehicle on Friday evening. At about 5:15 PM, police say 26-year-old Anthony Kalloway walked out in front of a car in the 24-hundred block of Central Avenue. Kalloway was not in a crosswalk at the time. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Finley Hospital. There’s no word on his condition.
