Polar Plunge Takes Place This Weekend

City, county and local law enforcement officials are prepared to brave the cold temperatures Saturday as part of a fundraiser for Special Olympics Iowa. They’ll be jumping into the frigid Mississippi River during the annual “Dubuque Polar Plunge.” The event will take place at the Schmitt Harbor Boat Ramp. Dubuque police Chief Mark Dalsing says his team has been preparing for the plunge for a long time. Dalsing says his department helps raise money for Special Olympics year-round, but the plunge is something they look forward to. The individuals who participate in Special Olympics Winter Games are very appreciative of all the support they receive. The winter games will be held in Dubuque in mid-January. The plunge starts at 11.
