Overnight Closures to Impact Eastbound US Highway 20
Overnight road closures are planned to begin next week on US Highway 20 near Dubuque’s western city limits. That’s because of continued work on the Southwest Arterial project. The next phase of the project requires crews from the Iowa Department of Transportation to set bridge girders over Highway 20 where it meets what will become the Southwest Arterial, according to Hugh Holak of the DOT. The closures will force eastbound traffic to be detoured onto North Cascade Road. From there, vehicles will be sent north on Cedar Cross Road to where it meets Highway 20 – also known as Dodge Street within the city. The detour will be in effect from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM each night for nearly two weeks. Those who live near the closure will still be able to access their homes during the work. The closure will only affect eastbound traffic. The work begins on Monday.
