One Person Killed in Rural Lafayette County Fire

One person was killed in a late morning fire in southwestern Wisconsin yesterday. According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the fire was called in a few minutes before noon. A witness reported seeing flames coming from the first floor of a home on South Lake Road near the Yellowstone Wildlife Area. Firefighters from Argyle, Blanchardville, and Darlington all helped fight the fire, but the home was destroyed. After the fire was put out, a body was found inside the home. The name of the person killed is being withheld until their family is contacted. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
