One Killed, One Seriously Hurt in Weekend Pedestrian Crashes
One pedestrian was killed and another seriously injured in separate crashes in Dubuque over the weekend. On Saturday, police say that an elderly man died after being hit by a car that was backing out of a driveway. The crash happened a few minutes before noon Saturday near the intersection of University Avenue and Finley Street. Police say the victim was an 82-year-old man, but have not released his name.
Meanwhile on Friday evening, a 16-year-old driver was behind the wheel when a man walked out in front of her vehicle. That incident happened at about 5:15 PM in the 24-hundred block of Central Avenue. Police say 26-year-old Anthony Kalloway was not in a crosswalk when he stepped out in front of the car. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Finley Hospital. There’s no word on his condition.
