One Killed in Saturday House Fire Near Dickeyville

For the second time in less than a week, a house fire has claimed a life in the Tri-State area. A few minutes after 9:00 Saturday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a house fire west of Dickeyville. Once the fire was put out, a body was found inside the home. Investigators believe the fire was started by a wood stove inside the house. The name of the victim is being withheld until an autopsy is completed and their family is contacted. Last Wednesday, 89-year-old Melvin Narveson died in a separate house fire in Lafayette County. That fire has been ruled as accidental by authorities, though the exact cause hasn’t been made public.
