New York Strip Steaks

Quite the treat we had today on “Cookin’ with Kaye”, my weekly cooking show you hear Friday’s at 8:20am on AM1370 KDTH. Direct from the Cremer’s Grocery meat locker, New York Strip Steaks! And not just any NYSS, 2-inch thick cut NYSS!! 2 INCHES!!!  Wow. Cooked to perfection by Jeff Cremer from Cremer’s grocery. Call ahead or stop down and have Jeff cut you some for you upcoming Father’s Day gatherings. Dad would love this! And, the NYS loin is on sale at Cremer’s for $12.99lb, 10-12lb. avg. The loin Jeff brought up today was 12lbs., and ran $148. We got 8 steaks out of the loin. But, usually, you’d have these cut 1-inch thick, so, you’d get 16 1-inch steaks for that price, all cut and wrapped. Go together with a couple family members and treat Dad to one heck of a cut of meat! It was delicious, melt in your mouth good! And, Jeff cooked these using a “reverse sear” method. Meaning, you bring the meat to room temperature, season, place on a wire rack over a baking sheet and bake in a 250-degree oven for 30 minutes (no turning required) then, put them on a 350-degree grill for about 5 minutes per side, pull them off and let them rest for about 10 minutes, and you’ll have a perfect medium-rare steak. We all know beef prices are high, so buy in bulk and save at Cremer’s Grocery on Rhomberg avenue, open Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm. Call ahead and they’ll have it ready for pickup, or, if your order is $100 or more, they’ll deliver it free! And, looking for some good Bourbon’s? Head over to Van’s Liquor store in East Dubuque. Our resident Bourbon guru, Jeff Jansen will set you up with some tasty bourbon, and of course, they have all kinds of beverage specials to stock up on. What a special show it was today and now I need a nap! And a big shout-out to Happee Smith Productions, another great sponsor of “Cookin’ with Kaye”.
